Better Business Bureau: Trump Lied About Our Ratings

The Council of Better Business Bureaus is calling out Donald Trump for what appears to have been a brazen effort to mislead the Fox News hosts who moderated last week’s Republican presidential debate, as well as the millions of Americans who tuned in to watch last Thursday night.

During the debate, the moderators and Trump’s opponent, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, brought up the subject of Trump University, a now-defunct business that Trump established to sell supposedly educational courses and seminars on entrepreneurship. Trump University is currently being sued for fraud by numerous former students, who said that they were pressured to take on debt to pay for tens of thousands of dollars in fees and that the company did not deliver the type of educational experience it promised.

On stage last week, Trump angrily challenged criticism of Trump University, insisting that the organization had a “98 percent” approval rating among its students.

But it was when Rubio brought up the company’s D- grade from the Better Business Bureau that Trump really started to get creative.

He conceded that at one point the company did have a D- rating from the Better Business Bureau, but he said the rating was poor only because Trump University hadn’t bothered to submit data to the BBB. He insisted that the grade was subsequently “elevated to an A” once the data was supplied.

“The only reason that is was a D was because we didn’t care — we didn’t give them the information. ” Trump said. “When they got the information it became an A.”

During a commercial break, Trump was given a fax from his staff, which he handed to Fox moderator Bret Baier. He later posted the document on Facebook. It appeared to be a BBB Business Review giving Trump University (actually, Trump Entrepreneur Initiative, after a 2011 name change) an A grade.

At least one news organization reported, at the time, that the document appeared to have been faxed to the Fox News set by the BBB itself.

On Tuesday, the Council of Better Business Bureaus issued a detailed statement setting the record straight.

“BBB did not send a document of any kind to the Republican debate site last Thursday evening,” it read. “The document presented to debate moderators did not come from BBB that night.”

It continued, “Trump University does not currently have an A rating with BBB. The BBB Business Review for this company has continually been “No Rating” since September 2015. Prior to that, it fluctuated between D- and A+. The document posted on social media on Thursday night was not a current BBB Business Review of Trump University. It appeared to be part of a Business Review from 2014.”

Related: Irony Alert: Trump Is Upset that Ted Cruz Is Lying

More damning, though, was the BBB’s account of how Trump University’s rating went from a D- to an A. The BBB said that, despite Trump’s claims to the contrary, the rating was never increased as a result of new information received from the company.

What happened is that as Trump University failed as a business, it stopped attracting new students, and with no new students, there were no more complaints filed to the BBB.

“During the period when Trump University appeared to be active in the marketplace, BBB received multiple customer complaints about this business,” the statement said. “These complaints affected the Trump University BBB rating, which was as low as D- in 2010. As the company appeared to be winding down, after 2013, no new complaints were reported.

“Complaints over three years old automatically rolled off of the Business Review, according to BBB policy. As a result, over time, Trump University’s BBB rating went to an A in July 2014 and then to an A+ in January 2015.”

Related: Trump’s Net Worth Isn’t His Only Claim That’s Fake

In other words, Trump was lying about Trump University’s rating on national television, and even provided misleading documentary evidence in real time to help him make his case.

In a sane campaign season, this sort of thing would be utterly disqualifying, but whether it will have much effect on Trump’s core support is doubtful. The billionaire’s supporters have proven remarkably immune to factual arguments about Trump’s obvious deficiencies as a candidate, and uninterested in proof that he frequently lies to them .

A popular exchange-traded fund used to bet on the energy sector on Tuesday was looking at its worst daily decline in more than three months, according to FactSet data. The Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF was down 2.2% in recent trade, putting it on pace to log its steepest drop since March 8, when it plunged 2.6%. The slump in the energy-focused ETF was led by sharp drops in Transocean Ltd. Hess Corp. and Marathon Oil Corp. which were down at least 4%. All of the index s components were trading in the red, in early trade. The decline for the sector comes as crude-oil prices sink to a seven-month low and are flirting with a close in bear-market territory, defined as a fall of at least 20% from a recent peak. Crude s slump was putting pressure on the S P 500 index. with the energy sector the worst performer among the benchmark s 11 sectors, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was lower, weighed by a 1.6% decline in shares of Chevron Corp. and a 1.3% fall in shares of Exxon Mobil Corp.

Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. shares rose 1.4% to $101.57 in morning trade Friday, after the company announced several new executives will start June 5. The news follows a massive managerial shake-up at the biopharmaceutical company in late May, in which Alexion announced the departures of its chief commercial officer, chief financial officer — who started at the company in December — and two executive vice presidents. The company has faced a scandal over sales practices for its expensive blood disorder medication Soliris. Energy stocks led S P 500 decliners on Tuesday, as crude oil prices extended recent losses after OPEC stopped short of more aggressive action to cut production. Cimarex Energy Co. fell 2.2% and Williams Companies Inc. was down 1.9%. Pioneer Natural Resources Corp. fell 1.9% and Marathon Oil Corp. was down 1.9%. Tesoro Corp. bucked the trend to gain 0.7%, after the stock was upgraded to overweight from equal weight Tuesday at Morgan Stanley. User Reviews

A crowdpleasing mix of chills, thrills and chainsaw dismemberments for all the family.

Last year Sweden stormed the horror front with an introspective, brooding character piece that doubletimed as a stylish vampire flick in the form of LET THE RIGHT IN. This year it s Norway s turn in the Scandinavian horror helm with DEAD SNOW. If the former retained some of the glacial minimalism of their fellow countryman and all-around venerable cinema giant Ingmar Bergman, Wikola s zombie slasher flick isn t too proud to have a chubby horror fan sporting a BRAINDEAD tshirt make out with a horny chicka in an outhouse while nazi zombies stalk the perimeters about.

Wearing its influences on the proverbial sleeve with the same cheering aplomb the characters discuss movies like Friday THE 13TH and EVIL DEAD, keeping tongue firmly in (someone s) cheek and regularly closing its eye to the audience in conspiratorial agreement, DEAD SNOW is a consistently entertaining little slasher flick even if with hardly an original bone in its body. Hearkening back to a long tradition of youth-gone-wild-in-the-middle-of-nowhere horror flicks and substituting the usual assortment of demons, hillbillies or cannibals that usually populate these movies with nazi zombies fresh thawed-out from their icy graves, the movie strikes a careful balance between the cartoonish and the horrific, while remaining bloody enough (even with CGI blood) to satisfy gore enthusiasts.

That s not to say the movie is without faults. It s baffling how, out of the elaborate mythology and various occult theories that surround the Nazis, the writer manages to come with the most flimsy, pedantic of backstories for the zombies. A little research would ve gone a long way to turn it into something more interesting. While the build-up in the first half is carried on the backs of actors who make up for their lack of great acting chops with genuine chemistry, the second half can be a bit aimless and meandering. You can run in the woods from zombies only for so long. When the characters put up a fight though, chainsaw and hammer in hand, it s as good as it s ever been.

Overall a surprisingly entertaining, competently made movie that hides its relative low-budget behind a professional look and fan enthusiasm. Bound to be one of the crowdpleasing horror-comedies of the year even if it veers closer to forgettable than great in the long run.

Ohio Schools – Ohio State School Ratings – Public and Private #ohio

State report cards for public schools

The state of Ohio issues a report card for every public school in the state. These report cards evaluate the achievement and progress of the students. You can find report cards for all public schools and districts, including charter schools and career technical education centers, at the Ohio Department of Education website .

The Ohio Department of Education is moving to a new method of rating public schools. The state is using an A-F rating system to grade particular areas of each school’s academic performance. In 2015, schools will also begin receiving an overall A-F rating.

On each school and district’s report card, the following factors are graded:

  • Student achievement
  • Student progress
  • Gap Closing
  • Graduation rate
  • K-3 literacy (coming soon)
  • Prepared for success (coming soon)

You’ll find in depth information about these factors and what they mean on the Ohio Department of Education’s website and on the School Choice Ohio website .

Public schools within your assigned district

In Ohio, students are assigned to a public school in their district. There are a number of ways to attend a different school instead, either by applying for an intra-district transfer or applying to a magnet school.

Intra-district transfer
If you want your child to attend a school in your district other than your assigned school, you can use intra-district open enrollment to request a transfer. Most districts have intra-district open-enrollment policies that allow families to select a different school as long as space permits. Call your school district to find out what is required, because each district has different rules and procedures. Spring is typically the best time to contact the district about the upcoming school year.

Magnet or lottery school
Magnet and lottery schools provide a specialized curriculum at a school that is designed to draw students from across a whole district rather than from a specific neighborhood. They often have specialized academic focuses or themes, like arts or STEM, which allow students to explore their individual interests. To attend a magnet school, check with your school district, because procedures vary district to district. Magnet schools often have selective admission, and applicants may be required to audition, or to meet other admission requirements. Some magnet schools (also called lottery schools) use a random lottery process to determine who gets accepted. Check with your district or with individual schools to find out about admission requirements and application deadlines. Most schools’ application deadlines are in the fall or winter for the following school year.

Public schools outside your assigned district

Ohio has several options for enrolling in a school outside of your assigned district including open enrollment and out-of-boundary tuition.

Open enrollment
Most school districts in the state have an inter-district open enrollment policy, which means that a child is free to attend a school in a different district, as long as there are available seats. There are two different types of inter-district open enrollment. Some districts only permit students in surrounding (“adjacent”) districts to attend their schools. In other districts, schools are open to students from anywhere in the state, as long as space permits. To find out more about open enrollment and each district’s policies, visit the Ohio Department of Education website .

Out-of-boundary tuition
If open enrollment is not available in the district where you want your child to attend school, ask your preferred school about out-of-district tuition. Find out more and see a list of tuition rates at the Ohio Department of Education website .

Public charter schools

Public charter schools, or community schools, are independently operated public schools, overseen by the state, with more flexibility than traditional district schools to make decisions around curriculum, scheduling, staffing and learning environments. These independent public schools come in two varieties: online and school-house.

Enrolling your child at a public charter school is simple: all you have to do is sign your child up. Public charter schools cannot turn away students, unless more students apply than there are seats available. In that case, there is a lottery. For more details, call or visit the charter school or schools you are interested in. You can find more information about Ohio charter schools on School Choice Ohio’s website and the Ohio Department of Education’s website .

Career-Tech programs

Career-tech programs emphasize real-world skills and knowledge to prepare students for college and a career. These programs help students gain technical know-how, an academic foundation, and career experience. Students usually begin career-tech programs in the 11th grade, but some programs start as early as 9th grade. Some schools have GPA requirements for admission.

Visit the Tech Prep Ohio website to see what programs are available in your district and learn more about career-tech programs at School Choice Ohio’s website. Contact individual schools directly for admission details and deadlines.

Private schools and state scholarships

Private schools are independent, tuition-based schools. Some have a faith-based environment, though not all private schools are religious. Ohio has five state-funded scholarship programs that allow eligible families to send their children to a participating private school (or public school, in some cases) of their choice. All scholarship programs are administered by the Ohio Department of Education.

Cleveland Scholarship & Tutoring Program
This program provides scholarships to students who live in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to be used toward tuition at any participating school within district boundaries. Visit the School Choice Ohio website or the Ohio Department of Education website for more details.

EdChoice Scholarship Program (Designated Schools)
This program provides scholarships to students who attend the state’s lowest-rated public schools. Scholarships can be used toward tuition at participating private schools. Visit the School Choice Ohio website or the Ohio Department of Education website for more details.

Income-Based Scholarship Program (EdChoice Expansion)
This program provides scholarships to students from qualifying families across the state. Scholarships are to be used toward tuition at participating private schools. For the 2014-15 school year, incoming kindergarten and incoming first grade students will be eligible to apply. Visit the School Choice Ohio website or the Ohio Department of Education website for more details.

Autism Scholarship Program
This program provides scholarships to students who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) with an Autism diagnosis. Scholarships can be used at participating schools and/or private service providers. Visit the School Choice Ohio website or the Ohio Department of Education website for more details.

Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program
This program provides scholarships to students with special needs who have an IEP (Individualized Education Plan). Scholarships can be used at participating schools and/or private service providers. Visit the School Choice Ohio website or the Ohio Department of Education website for more details.

10 причин моей ненависти (1999 )

Storyline

Adapted from William Shakespeare’s play “The Taming of the Shrew,” 10 Things I Hate About You starts off with Cameron, new student at Padua High, sitting in the office of the quirky guidance counselor Ms. Perky. He is then shown around the school by Michael, who will become his best friend. During his tour is when Cameron first sees Bianca Stratford, a beautiful sophomore with one problem: she isn’t allowed to date. And neither is her “shrew” sister, Katarina, a senior who loves indie rock and feminist prose and hates conformity. But Kat and Bianca’s father alters his house rule: now, Bianca can date. as long as Kat has a date, too. Now, in order for Cameron to date Bianca, he has to find someone to date Kat. So Michael helps him enlist the help of pretty-boy/jerk/model Joey Donner, tricking him into thinking that *he* will get to take Bianca out if he pays someone to take out Kat. His choice: Patrick Verona, a bad-boy with a mysterious reputation–some say he ate a live duck once. Written by Erica Baffa

A masterpiece that leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling! 10 out of 10 for 10 Things

All the praise in the world goes to every individual involved in the production of 10 Things I Hate About You,a film that rarely leaves my DVD player.I’m not a fan of Shakespeare’s traditional plays, but the modern day screen adaptions are brilliant, and 10 Things I Hate About You is no exception. The highschool stereotypes of the cool kids nobody messes with, the wannabe’s that try too hard to be something they’re not,the geeks everyone picks on and the rebels everyone is afraid of,mean there’s a character in this film everyone can relate to.The stand out performances are Heath Ledger as Patrick, the rebellious, feared and elusive bad guy who wins the heart of Kat Stratford played to perfection by fine actress Julia Stiles who has no interest in the opposite sex and is perceived to come from the planet ‘Loser’ while her more sociable, boy crazy sister Bianca (Larissa Oleynik)hails from planet ‘Look at Me,Look at Me’.Her good looks catch the eye of the smooth, suave and egotistical Joey Donner (Andrew Keegan) who is a male model, and fights for the affections of the prettiest Stratford sister with Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) the highschool geek, with a big heart and a big crush on Bianca. The hilarious Larry Miller stars as Walter Stratford-the kind of father who puts his girls on a short leash and desperately tries to shield them from the horrors of sex, drugs and rock and roll, and of course, boys.A typical teenage comedy, but its witty dialogue, goofy, sexy, cool and bad ass characters, and enjoyable storyline set it apart from all the rest. There’s plenty of memorable moments, romance, and clever and classic lines, all leading up to a predictable but perfectly good ending that leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling about teenage love.

I haven t laughed this hard in a theater since I saw Something About Mary. That said, I m a fan of the TV series, and I thought the movie lived up to its expectations. My only complaint is it could have been longer. Nevertheless, I think the writers and actors were on their game. Take in mind this is dumb slapstick humor, with flatulence and vomit jokes, but its still very clever, unique, and definitely funny! There really wasn t much of a storyline, or I should say it had very simple plot. However, that s not what makes Reno 911 funny (a complex plot might even be distracting). What makes Reno 911 funny is the string of endless skits and scenarios these incompetent cops put themselves in. This is a great cast of actor/comedians.
